What’s new for Copilot – March 2025
Hey there, fellow Microsoft enthusiasts! Time for our monthly roundup of what’s new with Microsoft Copilot. Whether you’re looking to create videos without the usual headaches or need to keep your presentations perfectly on-brand, there’s something in this update worth knowing about.
This month, we’re seeing some really practical improvements across the Microsoft ecosystem. Clipchamp is getting AI superpowers for video creation, PowerPoint is making it easier to stay on-brand, Teams is giving you more control over your Copilot interactions, and you’ll soon be able to reference your cloud files directly in Copilot chats.

Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): Ask Copilot to rewrite text as a list
Copilot in PowerPoint will rewrite paragraphs into bullet points or lists.
Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): Copilot Extensibility – Admins can manage Copilot extensibility under Copilot tab in Microsoft 365 admin center
Admins have options to manage Copilot extensibility under Copilot tab including agent management for IT published agents and shared agents.
Discover agents in Microsoft Copilot iOS/Android
The Agent UX in Microsoft 365 Copilot is now available on iOS/Android, allowing users to discover, add, and chat with agents in mobile Copilot on Teams, Outlook, and the Copilot app. The rollout will occur from mid-March to late March 2025, with no admin action required.
New Microsoft 365 Copilot release notes page
A new centralized Microsoft 365 Copilot release notes page is now available, consolidating all Copilot-related updates across various platforms. It includes platform-specific filters and is updated bi-weekly. Users should bookmark, share, review, and provide feedback on the page for better planning and awareness of Copilot updates.
Change to Copilot Settings in Outlook
Starting in March 2025, Outlook will introduce a setting to hide Copilot entry points, configurable per account and syncing across all Outlook applications. This applies to both organizational and personal accounts. Classic Outlook for Windows will not have this setting, but changes will sync with it. Admins should inform users.

Microsoft 365 Copilot: Sessions grouped by time frame
Microsoft 365 Copilot will group chat history by the latest interaction in each session, categorized by time frames such as “Yesterday” and “Previous 7 days.” This feature will roll out from late February to early March 2025. No admin action is required, but user notification and documentation updates are recommended.
Agents in Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat in Outlook
Agents for Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat in Outlook will be available on the Web and Work tabs starting late March 2025. Admins can manage these agents in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Users can customize their Copilot experience with these agents, which will appear in the right-side panel of Outlook.
Microsoft Copilot Studio – Extend M365 Copilot with Copilot Studio custom engine agents
We are announcing the extend M365 Copilot with Copilot Studio custom engine agents feature for Microsoft Copilot Studio. This feature allows users to customize Microsoft 365 Copilot to their needs with custom engine copilots to create rich, organization-specific solutions that can be easily accessed and interacted with from Microsoft Copilot. This feature will reach general availability on March 31, 2025.

Microsoft 365 Copilot: Users can search Copilot Chat sessions
Users will soon be able to search past Copilot chat sessions in Microsoft 365 Copilot. This feature requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license and will be available on Windows desktop and the web. The rollout starts in early March 2025 and completes by mid-March 2025.

Microsoft 365 Copilot | Microsoft Viva Insights: New admin settings for advanced insights and personal insights
Microsoft Viva Insights will introduce new admin settings for advanced and personal insights in Microsoft 365 Copilot by April 2025. Global admins will have more control over insights at the tenant level. The rollout will start in early March 2025 and complete by mid-March 2025. No admin action is required before the rollout.
Clipchamp introduces AI-powered video creation with Clipchamp Copilot for work
Clipchamp introduces AI-powered video creation with Clipchamp Copilot for work, generating scripts, sourcing stock footage, and assembling videos. Available on the Microsoft 365 Copilot plan, it rolls out from mid-April to mid-May 2025. Videos are saved in OneDrive. Feedback can be provided through thumbs-up or thumbs-down icons.
Microsoft PowerPoint: Stay on-brand when creating a presentation with Microsoft 365 Copilot
Microsoft 365 Copilot in PowerPoint will allow users to create presentations with their organization’s brand images using either an organizational asset library (OAL) in SharePoint or a Templafy library. The rollout will begin in late March 2025 and complete by early April 2025. Admins need to configure these options for users.

Microsoft Teams: Ability to Stop Copilot while it is generating a response
Copilot in Teams will now have a ‘stop’ button after sending a prompt. This will allow the user to stop Copilot’s response either before the response has started to generate, or even after the response is generating. The user may then start a new prompt if they wish.
Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): UX Transparency for Web Queries
With UX transparency of web grounding in Copilot, users will now be able to see the exact queries sent by Copilot in response to a user’s prompt to the web for grounding, along with the list of websites being queried, enhancing their awareness and control over the process.

Microsoft Teams: Copilot summary for transferred calls
When a call is forwarded/transferred to another colleague, users can prompt Copilot to automatically summarize the context, open questions, etc. for the call as a briefing for the receiving colleague. This feature ensures that the recipient is well-informed about the previous conversations related to the transferred call, enhancing their understanding and preparedness.

Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): Copilot creates an automatic presentation summary
When you open a PowerPoint presentation, Copilot will automatically create a summary, making it easy to understand the content quickly.
Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): In Copilot Pages, the Chat can now be used to modify the Page
When a Chat and a Page are open side by side, prompts within the Chat can now be used to modify or add to the contents of the Page.
Microsoft 365 Copilot: Work from your recent prompts in Draft with Copilot
Based on what you’re typing, Copilot in Word shows your most recent prompts, which you can use as-is or modify in Draft with Copilot.

Microsoft Copilot Studio – Block the access and recording of transcripts announcement
We are announcing the general availability of a copilot security control that will block the access and recording of transcripts generated from conversations between agents created in Copilot Studio and end-users. This feature allows you to prevent makers from accessing session transcripts in Copilot Studio and prevents the recording of conversational transcripts. This feature will reach general availability on March 3, 2025.
Introduction of Copilot Pay-as-you-go Feature in M365 Admin Center
Admins will soon manage Copilot Pay-as-you-go billing for Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat directly in the M365 Admin Center, starting late March 2025. This feature eliminates the need to use the Power Platform Admin Center, streamlining billing processes and enhancing control and visibility for admin users.
Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): Designer is now part of Copilot, enhanced with new template and slide suggestions
Designer is now part of Copilot. Copilot suggestions now brings you familiar Designer slide layout and presentation template suggestions in a vertical gallery, along with new capabilities.
Microsoft Viva: Viva Pulse – Authoring with M365 Copilot
Viva Pulse authors can now work with M365 Copilot to add a question, rewrite a question, and create a survey from scratch to quickly create and send their surveys to their teams to collect feedback. M365 Copilot can seamlessly capture the author’s needs to recommend survey questions that fit their unique scenario.

Microsoft Designer will be part of Microsoft 365 Copilot
Microsoft Designer will be integrated into Microsoft 365 Copilot, requiring a Copilot license. This change applies to Windows and Mac desktops and PowerPoint. The rollout will occur automatically by March 31, 2025. Users can still access Designer, and new documentation will be provided before the rollout.
Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): Recapping changes in Loop over extended periods
The Recap feature in Loop now allows users to summarize changes over extended periods, such as the last week or last 30 days. This update will roll out from mid-March to early April 2025. No admin action is required, but user notification and documentation updates are recommended.

Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): Copilot Pages in Government Clouds
This brings the editable Copilot Pages feature which is already shipped WW to the government environment. The pages feature enables users to add their M365 Copilot responses to a page where they can edit and share with others for collaboration. This happens right within the M365 Copilot app.
Keep Edge up to date to continue using Copilot on the Edge sidebar
Keep Edge updated to version 134.0.3124.51 or newer to use Copilot on the Edge sidebar. Updates include independence from Bing authentication, support for file uploads on the ‘Web’ tab, and access for all eligible enterprise tenants. M365 Copilot license requirements remain unchanged.
Microsoft Viva Insights: Microsoft Copilot Studio agents report (Preview) for the advanced insights app
The Microsoft Copilot Studio agent report template will be available in public preview for Viva Insights customers in mid-April 2025. This Power BI template provides insights into agent adoption and impact. Eligibility requires specific licenses and agent creation. Admins can manage data flow and storage settings.

Microsoft Viva: Copilot Dashboard Trendline Additions
Copilot Dashboard users can now visualize trends in additional key adoption and impact metrics over time to more quickly identify patterns and opportunities in employee adoption for better licensing decisions. Users will be able to now view Adoption metrics on either a monthly or weekly timeframe for specific groups of interest, as well as deep dive into Impact metrics like Copilot Assisted Hours, Actions Taken, and feature-specific dimensions.

Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): Copilot Prompt Gallery – Share a prompt to a Microsoft Team’s team
Share custom prompts with members of a Microsoft Teams team from the Copilot Prompt Gallery in Copilot Chat, allowing team members to easily discover and utilize these prompts in Copilot Prompt Gallery.
OneDrive: Ask questions about images using Copilot
You can now use Copilot to ask questions about images stored in OneDrive. This feature, requiring a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, will be available to commercial customers on OneDrive web starting late February 2025. Users can explain image contents and extract text from images. No admin action is required.

Microsoft Copilot Studio – Create automated copilots triggered by events
We are announcing the create automated copilots triggered by events feature for Copilot Studio. This feature allows you to create autonomous agents that can react to an event such as a table update, a new document, or a newly received email rather than relying on end-user input. This feature will reach general availability on March 24, 2025.
Interpreter agent in Teams meetings (Copilot)
The Interpreter agent in Teams meetings allows real-time speech-to-speech interpretation, enabling users to speak and listen in their preferred language. Users can choose their own simulated voice or default voices. Rolling out from late March to early April 2025, it requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. Admins can manage access via PowerShell.
Microsoft Viva Learning: Copilot Academy will be available for all Microsoft 365 users
Microsoft Viva Learning: Copilot Academy will be available to all Microsoft 365 users starting April 2025. Admins can manage access settings. Notifications will be sent to licensed users only. Admins can duplicate Copilot Academy features without a Copilot license. No immediate admin action is required.
Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat and Microsoft 365 Copilot: Users can insert cloud files in Copilot chat prompts
Users will soon be able to attach cloud files from OneDrive or SharePoint in Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Chat via the Web tab. This feature will roll out in April 2025 and requires no admin action. Users need a Microsoft 365 Copilot or Microsoft 365 license. Roadmap ID: 481139.

When you open a presentation, Copilot will automatically create a summary, making it easy to understand the content quickly.
Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): Catch up on a summary of document comments in the top of your document
Copilot will have a Discussion tab in the top of your document to summarize open comments, helping you quickly understand what people have said in comments.
Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): Copilot Prompt Gallery – Company-wide prompt publishing
Organizations can build their own collections of prompts that are tailored to their business needs and workflows and distribute these to all users within the tenant.
Outlook: Agents for Microsoft 365 Copilot available in Copilot Chat in Outlook for Mac
We will be adding declarative agents support in Copilot Chat in Outlook. This roadmap item tracks availability in Outlook for Mac.
Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Microsoft Purview Data Security Posture Management for AI- additional Microsoft Copilot integrations
Microsoft Purview Data Security Posture Management for AI support for Fabric Copilot and Security Copilot.
Microsoft Copilot Studio – Manage agent activity data powered by Microsoft 365 services is now available
We are releasing a feature where agents with generative mode enabled will have their historical activity data collected. Makers can use this data to troubleshoot and improve their agents. Makers can view this data either as a visual map or as transcripts. Please note, makers will only be able to see their own activity with agents, not the activity of other makers. This setting is enabled by default for Copilot Studio customers in the public cloud.
Microsoft 365 Copilot: New Researcher and Analyst agents
Microsoft 365 Copilot-licensed users will soon gain access to two new agents, Researcher and Analyst, starting April 2025. These agents, part of the “Frontier” program, will help with complex research and data analysis. Users must review and adjust their Copilot agent settings to enable access.
AI Admin role has permissions to manage Copilot agents
AI Admin role now has permissions to manage Copilot agents, previously requiring Global Admin privileges. This change will roll out in late March 2025. AI Admins can view, publish, reject, block, and update agents but cannot consent for permissions. They should familiarize themselves with the integrated app page.
Microsoft 365 Copilot: Updating Recommended section with Copilot prompts
The Recommended section on the Home tab of the Microsoft 365 Copilot app will be updated to include Copilot prompt suggestions for licensed users, enhancing content relevance. Users won’t be able to remove Meeting recordings and Upcoming meetings content. This change will be effective in late April 2025 and requires no admin action.
Microsoft Viva Pulse: Admins can configure access to Pulse templates for Microsoft 365 Copilot licensed users
Admins can configure access to new Microsoft Viva Pulse templates for Microsoft 365 Copilot licensed users. This feature, available from late March to mid-April 2025, allows admins to manage template access and review content. No action is required before the rollout, but reviewing configurations and notifying users is recommended.
Microsoft PowerPoint: Microsoft 365 Copilot can convert text to bullet points or a list
Microsoft PowerPoint will soon allow users to convert text to bullet points or numbered lists using Microsoft 365 Copilot. Initially requiring a Copilot license, this feature will be available to all Microsoft 365 licenses by mid-May 2025. The rollout requires no admin action and will be on by default.

Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): Admins will be able to define rules for scenarios like auto publishing Microsoft 365 certified agents and perform bulk cleanup of unused agents.
Admins will have the ability to set up rules for various scenarios, such as automatically publishing all Microsoft 365 certified agents and performing bulk cleanups of agents that are no longer in use.
Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): AI Admin role has permissions to manage agents
As an AI Admin, you manage agents with various capabilities including creating and overseeing Copilot connections that index data in Graph and perform actions, controlling which makers can build these connections and regulating the data sources used, maintaining observability over all connections, approving or denying agents, pre-installing them without requiring consent, and viewing them in Microsoft 365 admin center integrated apps page.
