What’s new for Copilot – November 2025
November 2025 was Ignite month, and that means a ton of new features rolled out across Microsoft Copilot. As always, it’s tough to pick just a few highlights, but some really shine this month.
One of the stars is the People Agent, now in preview. Figuring out who’s who and how they fit into the org chart is always a challenge, especially in large, global organizations. The People Agent makes it so much easier by surfacing insights from emails, chats, meetings, and documents. It’s a huge help for meeting prep and just understanding how everyone fits together.
Another personal favorite is Copilot’s new scheduling capability. Now you can just ask Copilot to set up meetings directly from your chat. No more back and forth trying to find a time that works for everyone. Copilot checks schedules and gives you the available slots. It’s a lifesaver for avoiding those human-error moments.
And on the chat side, there’s now a GPT-5 model selector. Sometimes you don’t need super deep reasoning for quick questions, and now you can pick the right level for what you

Outlook mobile users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license on Android and iOS can prepare for meetings using Copilot chat, available by late November 2025. A new Copilot button will appear in the bottom-right corner of the OneDrive and SharePoint file previewer, replacing the command bar button. It offers Copilot chat and contextual prompts, is enabled by default, requires no admin changes, and will roll out from mid-November to December 2025.
Microsoft 365 Copilot for Teams admin center is now generally available, offering four skills: help and guidance, policy troubleshooting, user search, and call quality troubleshooting. We are announcing the deprecation of the Edit your app with Copilot in Power Apps Studio (preview) in canvas apps. The deprecation will begin on January 6, 2026, and will remove the Maker Copilot chat sidecar (accessed by a Copilot button entry point in the header) from the Canvas App studio.

Earlier ServiceNow Knowledge connector did not support ingestion of content for articles created using templates in ServiceNow. But now ServiceNow Knowledge connector supports ingestion of knowledge articles based on out-of-the-box templates like FAQ, How to, What is, etc. & even custom templates used by the customers in their organization.
Earlier admins had to create new connections to adopt to the hierarchical permissions for ServiceNow Knowledge & Catalog Copilot Connectors as the edit capability was missing. Now, admins can easily edit their existing connections to switch between the permission handling option i.e. Simple vs Advanced to quickly adopt to the hierarchical permission feature.

With the lite version of Copilot Studio in M365, users can now use Office skills like generating PowerPoint decks, Excel spreadsheets, and Word documents by chatting with the agent. This helps users save time by completing commonly used tasks. These Office skills will come as a part of the “Generate documents, charts, and code” capability in Copilot Studio lite (formerly known as Code Interpreter).
Microsoft 365 Copilot’s People agent, launching in Frontier with public preview in November 2025 and general availability in Q1 2026, helps users discover organizational insights from emails, chats, meetings, and documents. Admins control deployment and access via Microsoft Entra ID groups; users need a Copilot license and enabled People Skills service.
Microsoft 365 Copilot for Android preview lets users open Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files with Copilot Chat for summaries. Editing requires switching to standalone apps. Offline access and advanced file management move to standalone apps. Rollout starts mid-November 2025, completing by mid-January 2026. Admins should plan app deployment accordingly.
Microsoft 365 Copilot will support connected agents, allowing one agent (e.g., Researcher) to query others for data, enhancing responses. Rolling out from mid-November 2025 to May 2026, admins can manage connected agents in the Copilot hub, with user control per conversation and compliance controls in place.

We are updating the UI for Copilot Chat so that the button is separate from the mail and event compose buttons. This feature will be available for users with a Copilot license.
Agent Mode lets you build and edit workbooks side by side with Copilot. When you’re updating budgets, creating financial models, or analyzing data, Agent Mode uses Excel’s most powerful tools like tables, charts, PivotTables, and formulas to help you get the job done.
Outlook for Android will have a new, separate Copilot Chat button for users with a M365 Copilot license, improving access and clarity. The rollout starts and completes in early December 2025. No functionality changes or admin actions are needed, but helpdesk and documentation updates are recommended.
Copilot can now automatically reschedule flexible 1:1 meetings and personal events based on user preferences to resolve scheduling conflicts. This feature, requiring a Copilot license, will roll out from mid to late November 2025 and helps save time by reducing manual rescheduling.

Starting on November 27, 2025, the insights widget in the analytics page will no longer be available. The functionality of this widget, in addition to the ability to drill down to view the metrics of individual questions and answers, is now available in the feature Analyze user questions by theme.
Starting December 12, 2025, OneNote for Windows desktop will update Copilot features to open in the Copilot Chat pane instead of separate windows or direct canvas insertion. This change applies to all users automatically, with no required action, and maintains enterprise grounding and compliance.
Microsoft 365 Copilot will integrate with OneDrive files in macOS Finder starting mid-November 2025, allowing users with appropriate licenses to query file contents via a context menu. The feature is enabled by default, requires no admin setup, and is available across all Microsoft 365 environments.

ServiceNow Tickets Copilot connector did not use to correctly update the ticket status because of not ingesting inactive tickets. But now, the connector updates the change in ticket status more frequently. Additionally, users can now edit the data query filter to include inactive tickets even for existing connections. By default, copilot connectors now ingest both active & inactive tickets to ensure better quality responses in Copilot connectors.
Microsoft 365 Copilot will let users adjust presentation length, tone, style, and add AI-generated images. Available on Desktop, Web, and Mac, it requires a Copilot license. The rollout begins early December 2025, with features enabled by default and no admin changes needed.

Starting November 17, 2025, agents built with Agent Builder in Microsoft 365 Copilot can generate Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents using the “Generate documents, charts, and code” skillset. This feature requires no admin action and will roll out worldwide by early December 2025.

Microsoft 365 Copilot users will see a new “Prepare” button on the Up Next card up to 5 minutes before meetings, replacing the “Join” button. This enables quick access to Copilot’s meeting prep tools. Rollout starts December 2025, requires no admin action, and is enabled by default for eligible users.

Enable customers to edit the scheduled prompt schedule
The refreshed Copilot landing page in Microsoft 365 admin center gives an at-a-glance view of your Copilot journey across Chat, Agents, and M365 Copilot. It includes success metrics for each pillar, new metrics like active chat users, assisted hours, and satisfaction rate, plus multi-signal, personalized and actionable insights to drive adoption. We’ve added a security pivot for Purview actions and centralized Copilot usage reports under a new usage pivot.
Users can manually select text and ask Copilot to help provide relevant information.
You can now adjust the length of your presentation, the tone of your narrative, the style of your slides, and leverage AI-generated images when creating with Copilot.
Enables users to schedule recurring prompts to declarative agents like Analyst, Idea Coach and more.
This feature allows users to simply express their intention conversationally, and Copilot infers their intention and creates a scheduled prompt automatically.
Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat will expand Outlook support to entire inbox and calendar, add Agent Mode in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint using web data and referenced files, and introduce specialized agents powered by Anthropic’s Claude model. Rollout starts January 2026; no admin action required except connecting to Claude.
Microsoft Security Copilot is now included at no extra cost in Microsoft 365 E5, providing integrated AI-driven security agents across Defender, Entra, Intune, and Purview. Customers receive monthly Security Compute Units based on user count, with phased rollout and admin controls via Entra ID group membership.
The Workforce Insights agent, launching November 24, 2025, in Frontier for Microsoft 365 Copilot, helps leaders analyze staffing, skills, and organizational structure using organizational and people skills data. Available to organizations with 50+ Copilot licenses, it supports deployment control and requires setup of data prerequisites.
The Microsoft 365 Copilot app will have a simplified, flattened navigation menu with logically grouped features. The rollout starts mid-November 2025 for targeted release and December 2025 for general availability, completing by January 2026. No admin action is required.
Microsoft Edge for Business will support Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat to summarize and provide context from browser tabs, Microsoft 365 documents, and YouTube videos starting mid-November 2025. The feature is off by default, respects DLP and policy settings, and requires Entra ID sign-in and appropriate licensing.

This improves productivity, reduces context switching, and provides secure, compliant in-browser AI assistance for Microsoft 365 users.
Copilot readiness in the Microsoft 365 admin center provides a centralized experience for applying Microsoft’s recommended settings, policies, and actions for Copilot. It organizes these into predefined packages so admins can quickly deploy Copilot securely and confidently.
Microsoft Edge for Business will introduce a “What’s New” page that opens automatically after major updates, highlighting new features in Edge and Microsoft 365 Copilot. This rollout starts mid-December 2025, is on by default, and can be disabled by admins via policy. No immediate admin action is required.
Microsoft 365 Copilot will enable users to generate and share AI-generated file summaries directly from Windows File Explorer and OneDrive activity center starting January 2026. Microsoft 365 Copilot introduces user-level federated connectors, allowing users to securely connect external apps like Notion and Canva in real time using their credentials. Declarative Agents have been enhanced to interpret and ground responses using images embedded in files such as Word documents (.docx), PowerPoint presentations (.pptx), and PDFs. This capability allows the agent to extract insights from visual elements like charts, diagrams, and screenshots, ensuring that answers are not only text-based but also informed by graphical context. By combining textual and visual understanding, Declarative Agents deliver more comprehensive and contextually accurate responses for complex queries.
OpenAI’s Sora 2 video generation model is now integrated into Microsoft 365 Copilot for licensed Frontier users, enabling AI-generated 720p videos with synchronized audio. Videos are stored securely in OneDrive or SharePoint, with compliance, audit logging, and responsible AI safeguards in place. No admin setup required.

We are updating the entry point user interface for Copilot Chat. The Copilot Chat entry point button will move out of the app ribbon to the app canvas to help with discoverability and use within the context of the file. This update will apply to Microsoft 365 users of Word, Excel and PowerPoint who are eligible for Copilot Chat across web, mobile and desktop.
Scheduling with Copilot: Users can now schedule meetings directly from chat. Simply ask Copilot to schedule a meeting with colleagues, and it will find available times, book rooms, draft agendas, and send invites—all within the chat experience. This feature will roll out in phases and is expected to be generally available in Copilot chat across all endpoints for users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license in the coming months.
Enables users to schedule recurring prompts in the Web tab
GPT-5 Model selector gives users more control over reasoning depth, enabling automatic reasoning for simple tasks and explicit control when desired. The three modes that are supported as part of GPT-5 are: Auto (default) – system decides how long to think, Instant (chat) – fast responses, thinking (reasoning) – longer thinking for better answers.
The Copilot Chat entry point in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint will move from the ribbon to the document canvas starting December 2025. It includes contextual prompt suggestions, remains on by default, and requires no admin action unless adjusting the pinning setting for users without a Copilot license.

Microsoft 365 Copilot is adding voice chat across desktop, web, and mobile apps like Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Rolling out from November 2025 to January 2026, licensed users can have natural voice conversations with Copilot, with transcripts stored securely. No admin control to disable this feature.
Microsoft 365 Copilot will integrate past Copilot chats into Microsoft Search, allowing users to retrieve historical conversations from notebooks, agents, and the main chat via a new “Copilot Chats” data source in search results. This feature requires a Copilot license and rolls out worldwide from November to December 2025.
Starting late November 2025, Microsoft 365 Copilot on Windows will support hands-free voice activation by saying “Hey Copilot,” off by default and enabled in settings. It operates locally without recording audio, supports English activation, and requires manual muting or dismissal to end conversations.
We are announcing the ability to view, add, and manage your agent’s triggers and channels all from a single, unified experience in Microsoft Copilot Studio. This feature will reach general availability on November 28, 2025.

Microsoft 365 Copilot is adding scheduled prompt features for Frontier tenants, enabling users to automate recurring tasks with declarative agents and the Web tab. Available from mid-November 2025, users can schedule, edit prompts, and use natural language scheduling in the Work tab. A Copilot license is required.
