What’s new for Copilot – June 2025
June was absolutely wild for Microsoft Copilot updates—we’re talking 50+ new features dropping left and right. But here’s the thing that caught my attention: Microsoft is finally solving one of our biggest pain points.
Microsoft is basically saying “your agents should work everywhere you do”—and they’re actually delivering on it. The Researcher in Copilot Notebooks is now bringing serious research power right into your collaborative workspace. The Microsoft 365 Copilot app for iOS and Android is getting an Agent Store (hello, mobile productivity!). And here’s the game-changer: SharePoint agents are now accessible directly in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app. No more context-switching headaches.
This isn’t just another feature update—it’s Microsoft finally connecting the dots between all these different Copilot experiences. Your AI assistants can now follow you around just like your coffee mug does. ☕

Image generation in Microsoft 365 Copilot will be generally available from late June to late July 2025. Users with a Copilot license can generate images within Microsoft 365 apps. We are announcing the ability to extend your agent by using the tools page to create, view, and add tools to existing agents in Microsoft Copilot Studio. This feature will reach general availability on July 3, 2025.

Copilot Chat helps you stay on top of your inbox by highlighting important and actionable emails such as messages from your manager, leadership, top collaborators, or emails containing tasks when you use prompts like “What’s hot in my inbox?” or “What were the important emails from last week?”
Often you may want to transition a conversation from an email thread to a meeting. Copilot helps you do this by being able to start scheduling right from the email conversation. It saves you time and effort by generating a meeting invite that’s ready for you to review and send. When you click on “Schedule with Copilot” a meeting form will appear with a Copilot generated meeting title, agenda, and conversation summary as well as a pre-filled attendee list from the email thread and an attachment of the original email thread. This feature will be available in the new Outlook for Windows, web, Mac, and mobile. #newoutlookforwindows

Copilot makes it easy to identify high-priority emails and emails that need a reply, by offering a priority view directly within your Outlook inbox.
When Copilot detects that you’re trying to write an email—like saying “Draft an email to my team thanking them for their hard work on Project K”—you’ll see an “Edit in Outlook” button. The ‘Edit in Outlook button will open a draft in Outlook, with the subject, message, and recipients filled in, so you can review and send it with ease.
Edge for Business will now have a dedicated policy (EdgeMicrosoft365CopilotChatIconEnabled) to enable and disable Copilot in Edge from showing in the Edge toolbar.
For Admins, agents in the Frontier program can be managed through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. They are listed under the agents & connectors tab in Copilot Control System, where you can view all agent inventory for your organization. Agents built by Microsoft and available in the Frontier program will be displayed in the Agent Store. This feature will support users to request these agents if blocked by organizational policies. Admins will have the opportunity to further approve and reject these user request.
Microsoft 365 Copilot: People Skills is now generally available, enhancing user experience with AI-generated skill profiles, a customizable skills library, and skills-driven features across Microsoft 365 apps. The rollout requires no admin action and will be completed by mid-June 2025. Organizations can notify users and update documentation accordingly.
Users will be able to reference Excel files when creating presentations with Microsoft 365 Copilot in PowerPoint. A Copilot license is required. This feature will be available in June 2025 for PowerPoint on Windows, Mac, and the web. No admin action is needed before the rollout.
Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention will soon prevent Microsoft 365 Copilot from processing emails with sensitivity labels, effective for emails sent on or after January 1, 2025. The public preview starts in June 2025, with general availability in August 2025. No admin action is required before the rollout.

Microsoft Outlook for iOS/Android introduces a new priority view highlighting important emails and those needing replies, available from late June 2025 to late December 2025. Now, you will be able to add more content to your existing presentation using Copilot. It would help you generate/add new topic(s) with slides that are consistent in look and feel of your existing presentations
Use Copilot in the backstage view, accessible from the tile tab or start menu, to see a summary of the latest changes and comments made to your Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files before opening them.
A new Power BI report helping you explore the relationship between Copilot usage and KPIs from your business data.
Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat in Edge will soon be able to answer contextual questions about a user’s open window. This extends the existing capability which can only access the open page. All existing user settings and policies and DLP considerations will continue to be respected.

Now you will be able to rewrite text using Copilot through natural language prompting in PowerPoint.
We are announcing the ability to see security-related views and statuses for agents feature for Microsoft Copilot Studio. This feature will reach general availability on July 10, 2025.
Microsoft 365 Copilot app for iOS and Android will introduce the Agent Store, allowing users to acquire agents directly from the mobile app starting late June 2025. A Microsoft 365 Copilot license is required. This update will be automatic, and agents will respect admin policies. Notify users and update documentation accordingly.
New prompt categories will be added to the Microsoft Copilot Dashboard in Microsoft Viva Insights, including “Ask and find,” “Catch up,” “Draft and brainstorm,” and “Other.” These updates will be available by late July 2025, with no admin action required. Copilot support for 1:1 and group calls on Teams certified phone devices will be available worldwide from mid to end of July 2025. This feature, which requires the latest Teams phone application, a Copilot license, and enabled transcription, enhances productivity by generating call notes, recaps, and action items.
New admin controls for Microsoft 365 Copilot Search will be available starting early July 2025. These tools enable IT admins to configure, customize, and measure search usage, enhancing productivity and decision-making. A Microsoft 365 Copilot license and specific admin roles are required. No action is needed before the rollout.
Admins can upload custom dictionaries for Microsoft Teams meeting transcripts via the Copilot Settings page in the Microsoft 365 admin center. This feature, requiring a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, enhances transcript accuracy for tenant-specific terms. The rollout starts in late June 2025 and completes by mid-July 2025.
We are announcing the ability to use Copilot to generate contextual partial email content for Dynamics 365 Customer Service. This feature enables customer service representatives to leverage AI assistance at any point during email composition. This feature will reach general availability on July 14, 2025.

We are introducing an AI-enhanced pre-meeting card in Microsoft 365 Copilot for Sales to help you prepare for customer meetings with insights on opportunities, accounts, and past interactions. This feature will reach general availability on June 16, 2025.
We are announcing the enablement of run and action-level ROI tracking for autonomous agents in Microsoft Copilot Studio. This feature will reach general availability on July 15, 2025.
Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat is now available in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote. It opens in the side pane and can be managed through settings. Rollout begins in late June for Outlook and mid-July for other apps. Admins may need to adjust the pin setting for non-licensed users.

Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat Copilot is available at no additional cost for Microsoft 365 DOD users who sign in with their Microsoft Entra account (no Microsoft 365 Copilot license required). Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat offers enterprise data protection (EDP), and secure AI chat designed for work, powered by the latest large language models with optional web grounding. The general availability of this release will be delivered to the users with web grounding OFF by default to meet US Government requirements. This will help protect sensitive information which should not leave the DOD compliance boundary.
The Researcher agent in the Microsoft 365 Copilot Prompt Box will be generally available starting July 18, 2025. It integrates deep research capabilities into Microsoft 365 apps, enhancing efficiency for complex research tasks. No admin action is required, but management is possible via the Microsoft 365 admin center.
Microsoft will no longer pre-install the Visual Creator agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat starting mid-July 2025. Users can still generate images in Copilot Chat and use the Create experience for broader content creation. No admin action is required, but notifying users and updating documentation is recommended.
Microsoft 365 Copilot app for Mac will be available for download in late June 2025. Mac users can access AI-powered tools directly from the Dock. The app does not replace the web version. Organizations should prepare communications and update documentation for users.

Menus in Edge where the user has highlighted content in the browser will soon support a summarization, translation, and citation with Microsoft Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat.
Users will be able to expand the Input Box to a full screen view when they type long prompts with lengthy context or instructions. When users copy paste prompts from word editors the prompt box will maintain plain text formatting to sustain readability and review of the prompt.

Admins can set up budget limits for Copilot Pay-as-you-go by defining billing policies scoped to departments or groups. These policies can be assigned to specific Copilot services, such as M365 Copilot Chat or SharePoint-based agents, and configured with budget thresholds and alerting rules. Email notification alerts (soft alerts) are supported, enabling proactive cost control.
A new usage report will be available in the Microsoft 365 admin center for search in Microsoft 365 Copilot. The report will include total search queries, average search queries per user, search usage trends, and per-user usage insights.
Once your organization’s assets are integrated into a SharePoint Organization Asset Library (OAL) or connected through Templafy to Microsoft 365 Copilot, you’ll be able to easily create slides using your organization’s approved images.
This feature integrates pre-purchased capacity packs into Microsoft 365 Admin Center for Copilot experiences. Administrators can apply pre-purchased message capacity to Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, SharePoint Agents, and other compatible scenarios before incurring pay-as-you-go charges. Capacity packs, available as monthly or yearly subscriptions in the M365 Admin Center marketplace, provide a fixed number of prepaid messages, simplifying administration by eliminating the need to set up pay-as-you-go multiple times.
We are announcing a new control for admins, allowing them to block agents created in Microsoft Copilot Studio. This feature provides a PowerShell command to block Copilot Studio agents by the admin. This feature will reach general availability on July 15, 2025.

Copilot in Teams admin center is available in Public Preview, rolling out from June to July 2025. Admins with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license will automatically have access, enabling natural language management of Teams and Microsoft 365 settings. No additional licensing or action is required, but access can be disabled or restricted via security groups.
